Bottom Brackets
Ryden bottom brackets for threaded frames: the Ryden Square-Taper Bottom Bracket is a sealed cartridge for BSA-threaded 68 and 73 mm shells and JIS square-taper cranksets, in five spindle lengths.
Choosing a bottom bracket
Match the frame shell
The Ryden Square-Taper Bottom Bracket threads into BSA (English) shells, 1.37" × 24 TPI. Measure the shell face to face: most are 68 mm or 73 mm. Press-fit shells need a different bottom bracket.
Match the crank interface
It takes JIS square-taper cranksets. Cranksets with a 24 mm spindle, including Ryden’s road, MTB and city/hybrid cranksets, need a 24 mm bottom bracket instead.
Match the spindle length
Spindle length sets the chainline, so use the length your crankset specifies. A working bottom bracket is often marked with its size, such as 68 × 113.
Install it with the right tools
You need a crank puller and a bottom bracket tool. On BSA shells the drive-side cup is reverse-threaded. Tighten to the torque your frame or crank manufacturer specifies.
Frequently asked questions
Which bottom bracket do I need?+
Start with three things: your frame’s shell (BSA threaded, 68 or 73 mm), your crank interface (JIS square taper) and the spindle length your crankset specifies. Choose that shell width and spindle length when you order.
Will it fit Ryden cranksets?+
Ryden’s road, MTB and city/hybrid cranksets use a 24 mm spindle, and the E-Bike Crankset fits the motor, so they don’t use this bottom bracket. The Ryden Kids Bike Crankset is square taper: contact us to confirm the taper and spindle length for your version.
How do I find my spindle length?+
Check your crankset’s specification, or read the size marked on the bottom bracket you’re replacing, such as 68 × 113 (a 68 mm shell and a 113 mm spindle), if its chainline was correct.
Will it fit a press-fit frame?+
No. It needs a threaded BSA shell.
What warranty do Ryden bottom brackets have?+
A 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Bearing wear and damage from incorrect installation aren’t covered.
