Check your shoes
Road clipless pedals need cycling shoes with a 3-bolt road cleat mount. Shoes with only a 2-bolt mount, common on MTB, gravel and touring shoes, won’t take the cleats.
Choose your float
Float is how far your heel can rotate while clipped in. 4.5° suits most riders; 0° gives a locked-in feel; 9° gives more freedom, which many new clipless riders prefer.
Start with light release tension
Release tension adjusts how firmly the pedal holds the cleat. Begin low while you learn to unclip by rotating your heel outward, then increase it if you want a firmer hold.
Practice before you ride in traffic
Clip in and out beside a wall, then in a quiet area, and unclip one foot before you stop. Road cleats wear with walking, so replace them when engagement gets loose.

Do the pedals come with cleats?+
Yes. Each pair includes Ryden Road Cleats in the float you choose when ordering: 0° Fixed, 4.5° Standard or 9° Maximum float. Spare cleats are sold separately.
Which float should I choose?+
4.5° Standard suits most riders. Choose 0° Fixed for a locked-in feel with a professionally set cleat position, or 9° Maximum float for more natural heel movement.
Will they work with my MTB shoes?+
Only if the shoes have a 3-bolt road cleat mount. Shoes with only a 2-bolt mount won’t take the cleats.
How do I unclip?+
Rotate your heel outward until the pedal releases the cleat. Practice in a safe place before riding in traffic.
