Ryden Junior MTB – 24" Youth Mountain Bike
The Ryden Junior MTB is a capable 24-inch youth mountain bike designed for young riders ready to move beyond recreational kids’ bikes and experience real trail riding. Featuring a lightweight 6061 aluminum frame, 80 mm suspension fork, Shimano CUES 1x9 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and wide 24 x 2.25" tires, it delivers the control, gearing, grip, and confidence young cyclists need for trails, gravel, parks, and everyday adventures.
- ✓ Real youth MTB geometry: designed around younger riders rather than a shrunken adult bike, for predictable handling and control
- ✓ 80 mm suspension fork: junior-tuned travel absorbs bumps, roots and rocks while helping the front tire keep traction
- ✓ Shimano CUES 1x9 drivetrain: wide-range nine-speed gearing without the complexity of a front derailleur
- ✓ Hydraulic disc brakes: dependable stopping with less hand effort, particularly valuable for smaller riders on descents
- ✓ Trail-ready 24" wheels: wide 24 x 2.25-inch tires give far more traction than the multi-surface tires on conventional kids bikes
Where the Ryden kids range becomes genuine mountain biking
The Ryden Junior MTB represents the point where the Ryden kids range transitions from recreational bicycles into genuine performance-oriented cycling. Rather than adding mountain-bike styling to a standard children’s bicycle, the Junior MTB is designed as a proper youth mountain bike.
Its lightweight 6061 aluminum frame uses youth-specific geometry with a low standover height, short reach, and appropriately proportioned cockpit. This gives younger riders greater confidence when climbing, descending, cornering, and navigating uneven terrain.
At the front, an 80 mm junior-tuned suspension fork helps absorb impacts from rocks, roots, potholes, and trail features. The suspension is intentionally shorter than an adult trail bike’s to maintain appropriate geometry and control for the smaller 24-inch platform.
The Shimano CUES 1x9 drivetrain provides a broad range of gears without introducing a front derailleur. Young riders operate a single shifter, making gear selection straightforward while still providing easy climbing gears.
Hydraulic disc brakes are another major upgrade from conventional children’s bikes. Their combination of strong braking and relatively low lever effort gives young riders better speed control when descending or riding in wet and loose conditions. The 24-inch double-wall wheels are paired with 2.25-inch mountain-bike tires for increased grip on dirt, gravel, grass, and trail surfaces.
It suits forest and recreational MTB trails, gravel paths, dirt, grass, family trail rides, bike parks with beginner features, urban riding, and moderate climbs and descents. It is not intended for large jumps, extreme downhill courses, enduro racing, or aggressive freeride use.

Questions about this product (15)
A (Ryden team): It is generally intended for riders approximately 8 to 12 years old, although its 125 to 150 cm recommended rider-height range is a more useful sizing reference.
Is this a real mountain bike or just a kids’ bike with MTB styling?+
It is a genuine youth mountain bike. Its suspension, wide-range drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, MTB tires, frame geometry, and components are selected specifically for off-road riding.
Why does it use 24-inch wheels?+
Twenty-four-inch wheels provide a good transition between children’s 20-inch bicycles and adult 27.5/29-inch mountain bikes. They offer improved rollover while remaining manageable for smaller riders.
Does the bike have suspension?+
Yes. It features an 80 mm suspension fork tuned around the needs of younger, lighter riders.
Does it have gears?+
Yes. The Shimano CUES 1x9 drivetrain provides nine gears with a wide-range cassette, making steep climbs easier without requiring a front derailleur.
Why does it have hydraulic disc brakes?+
Hydraulic discs provide strong and predictable braking with relatively little lever effort, which is particularly useful for young riders with smaller hands when controlling speed on descents.
Can it be used for normal road riding?+
Yes. It can be ridden around neighbourhoods, parks, and paved paths, although its wide MTB tires and suspension make it less efficient on pavement than a dedicated road or hybrid bicycle.
Can my child take it to a mountain bike park?+
Yes, provided they use trails and features appropriate to their ability and the bike’s intended use. Beginner and moderate trail riding is the primary focus.
Can it handle jumps?+
Small trail features and appropriately sized beginner jumps are within its intended use. It is not designed as a dirt-jump, downhill, or freeride bicycle.
Does it have a dropper seatpost?+
A dropper post is not included, to keep weight and cost down. A compatible junior dropper post can be fitted later as an upgrade for more advanced young riders.
Is the suspension adjustable?+
Yes. The fork includes preload adjustment and lockout, so suspension behaviour can be adjusted and locked out for smoother surfaces.
Is the saddle adjustable?+
Yes. The seatpost provides substantial height adjustment to accommodate growing riders within the recommended size range.
What safety equipment is recommended?+
A properly fitted cycling helmet should always be used. Gloves, knee pads, and elbow protection are also recommended when riding trails or bike parks.
What warranty is included?+
A 5-year limited warranty on the frame, a 2-year limited warranty on the fork, wheels and brakes, and a 1-year limited warranty on other components, subject to normal wear and appropriate-use exclusions.
Why choose the Ryden Junior MTB?+
It is designed for children who have mastered basic cycling and want to begin exploring real mountain biking. The combination of a lightweight aluminum frame, 80 mm suspension, Shimano CUES 1x9 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and 24-inch trail tires gives young riders genuine off-road capability without the size and weight of an adult mountain bike.
