Durability, shifting precision and drivetrain efficiency
A narrower architecture is designed around the tighter cassette spacing found on compatible 10-speed drivetrains.
Precisely formed inner and outer plates support fast, controlled movement across compatible cassette sprockets and chainrings.
A performance surface treatment helps reduce friction at the chain’s articulating interfaces while adding corrosion resistance.
Heat-treated pins and hardened steel plates provide dependable strength for road, MTB, gravel, and everyday applications.
A dedicated Ryden 10-Speed Quick Link provides a clean and convenient method for joining the chain during installation.
Moving from nine to ten rear sprockets requires greater drivetrain precision. Cassette spacing becomes tighter, the chain becomes narrower externally, and accurate interaction between the chain, cassette, chainrings, and derailleurs becomes increasingly important. The Ryden 10-Speed Chain is engineered around those requirements.
Its narrow-profile construction is designed specifically for compatible ten-speed drivetrains rather than attempting to use the broader dimensions of lower-speed chains. Precision-shaped inner and outer plates help the chain engage with shifting ramps and tooth profiles during gear changes, improving shifting across the road, recreational, commuting, and off-road riding the chain is intended for.
Hardened steel plates and heat-treated pins provide the structural foundation, while a low-friction protective treatment improves corrosion resistance and drivetrain smoothness.
The chain ships with 116 links, providing sufficient starting length for many conventional 1×10, 2×10, and 3×10 drivetrains. The installer then shortens it to the correct length for the bicycle. A dedicated Ryden 10-Speed Quick Link is included.
The 10-Speed Chain is where the Ryden chain family moves beyond basic replacement durability toward a stronger combination of durability, shifting precision, and drivetrain efficiency.
Ryden Precision Shift Profile
Optimized shaping across both inner and outer plates:
- Chamfered plate edges
- Help the chain transition between adjacent sprockets.
- Optimized outer plates
- Support controlled interaction with cassette shifting ramps.
- Shaped inner plates
- Improve engagement with chainring and sprocket teeth.
- Controlled pin protrusion
- Maintains the narrow external profile required by a 10-speed drivetrain.
- Consistent link articulation
- Reduces unnecessary resistance during drivetrain movement.
Ryden LF Protection
A low-friction and anti-corrosion treatment, upgraded from the one on Ryden’s lower-tier chains, designed to provide:
- •Reduced surface friction
- •Improved corrosion resistance
- •Smoother articulation
- •Better protection against moisture
- •Cleaner drivetrain operation
- •Improved durability under normal maintenance

Questions about this product (15)
A (Ryden team): It is designed for compatible 10-speed derailleur drivetrains.
Does it work with 1×10?+
Yes, provided the drivetrain components are compatible.
Does it work with 2×10?+
Yes.
Can it work with 3×10?+
Yes, where the complete 3×10 drivetrain is compatible.
How many links are included?+
116 links before sizing.
Do I need all 116 links?+
Not necessarily. The chain should be shortened according to the bicycle’s drivetrain geometry.
Is a Quick Link included?+
Yes. One Ryden 10-Speed Quick Link is included.
Is the chain directional?+
No. The chain is non-directional.
Can I use it with Shimano 10-speed?+
It is designed for compatible Shimano 10-speed systems. If you’re unsure whether your drivetrain is compatible, contact us before ordering and we’ll check it for you.
Can I use it with SRAM 10-speed?+
It is designed for compatible SRAM 10-speed systems. If you’re unsure whether your drivetrain is compatible, contact us before ordering and we’ll check it for you.
Can I put this chain on a 9-speed bike?+
We recommend the dedicated Ryden 9-Speed Chain instead.
Can I use it on an 11-speed bike?+
No. Use the narrower Ryden 11-Speed Chain.
Does the chain arrive lubricated?+
Yes. It ships with factory-applied lubrication and protective treatment.
When should I replace it?+
Monitor it with a chain-wear gauge. Around 0.5–0.75% elongation is an appropriate inspection/replacement range depending on the drivetrain manufacturer’s guidance.
Is it suitable for e-bikes?+
Only for e-bike systems that permit an appropriate conventional 10-speed chain. For high-torque e-bikes, use the Ryden E-Bike Reinforced Chain.
