Simple. Durable. Compatible.
One chain works across a wide range of conventional 6-, 7-, and 8-speed derailleur drivetrains.
Heat-treated steel pins and plates provide durability for commuting, recreation, and everyday cycling.
Shaped outer and inner plates are designed to support smooth engagement with compatible multi-speed chainrings and cassettes/freewheels.
A protective surface finish improves resistance to moisture, dirt, and normal environmental exposure.
An included Ryden connecting link simplifies chain installation and removal compared with joining the chain using a standard chain pin.
The chain is one of the hardest-working components on a bicycle. Every pedal stroke transfers force through it, while every shift requires the chain to move accurately between different sprockets. As the chain wears, shifting quality can deteriorate and wear on the cassette, freewheel, and chainrings can accelerate.
The Ryden 6/7/8-Speed Chain is designed as a dependable replacement chain for conventional multi-speed bicycles. Its 1/2" × 3/32" architecture is optimized for compatible 6-, 7-, and 8-speed derailleur drivetrains, making it suitable for a large range of older and current recreational bicycles.
Precision-formed plates help the chain move between sprockets during shifting, while hardened pins and steel construction provide the durability required for everyday use.
The chain is supplied with 116 links, allowing it to accommodate many common drivetrain configurations. During installation, the chain should be shortened to the correct length for the specific bicycle rather than automatically using all 116 links.
A corrosion-resistant surface treatment provides additional protection against normal exposure to moisture and road contamination. It is built to be the reliable everyday chain, not an expensive race component.

Questions about this product (15)
A (Ryden team): It is intended for compatible bicycles using conventional 6-, 7-, or 8-speed derailleur drivetrains.
Will the same chain work with 6, 7, and 8 speeds?+
Yes, provided the drivetrain uses compatible conventional chain dimensions.
How many links does it have?+
The chain is supplied with 116 links.
Do I need to use all 116 links?+
Usually not. The chain should be shortened to the correct length for the bicycle.
Is a Quick Link included?+
Yes. One compatible Ryden connecting link is included.
Is this chain directional?+
No. The Ryden 6/7/8-Speed Chain is non-directional, simplifying installation.
Can I use it with Shimano?+
It is designed for compatible Shimano 6/7/8-speed drivetrains. If you’re unsure whether your drivetrain is compatible, contact us before ordering and we’ll check it for you.
Can I use it with SRAM?+
It is designed for appropriate conventional SRAM 6/7/8-speed systems. If you’re unsure whether your drivetrain is compatible, contact us before ordering and we’ll check it for you.
Can I use it on a 9-speed bicycle?+
No. Use the dedicated Ryden 9-Speed Chain for a 9-speed drivetrain.
Can I use it on a single-speed bike?+
We recommend the dedicated Ryden Single-Speed Chain instead, especially where a 1/8" drivetrain is used.
Does the chain come lubricated?+
Yes. It is supplied with factory-applied lubricant and protection suitable for initial installation.
How often should I lubricate it?+
There is no universal mileage interval. Riding conditions, contamination, lubricant type, weather, and usage determine how frequently lubrication is required.
How do I know when it is worn?+
Use a chain-wear measuring tool. For this drivetrain class, around 0.75% elongation is a useful replacement checkpoint, subject to component-manufacturer guidance.
Can a worn chain damage my cassette?+
Continued riding with an excessively worn chain can accelerate wear on the cassette/freewheel and chainrings.
What warranty does it have?+
A 1-year limited manufacturing defect warranty. Because a bicycle chain is a consumable wear component, normal chain wear, corrosion resulting from inadequate maintenance, incorrect installation, crashes, and drivetrain incompatibility are not covered.
