Precise 11-speed shifting, from close-ratio road to wide-range 1×11 MTB
Tighter-tolerance linkage geometry provides precise pulley tracking across eleven closely spaced cassette sprockets.
Separate road and MTB versions each have cable pull, cage geometry, spring tension, and cassette range tuned for their application.
The MTB long-cage versions pair directly with the 11–42T MTB Wide Range version of the Ryden 11-Speed Cassette.
Large low-friction pulleys improve chain management and are individually replaceable, which makes servicing easier.
The MTB long cage TrailLock clutch version stabilizes cage movement for quieter, more secure chain control on rough terrain.
The Ryden 11-Speed Rear Derailleur is one family with distinct road and MTB versions, each matched to its own type of shifter, cage length, and cassette range.
Road and MTB drivetrains can differ in cable pull, derailleur movement ratio, cage length, spring tension, B-gap requirements, maximum sprocket size, and shifter design. The road short and medium cages are built for road, endurance, and all-road bikes with compatible 11-speed road shifters. The MTB long cages are built for 1×11 MTB, trekking, and trail bikes with compatible 11-speed MTB shifters.
Every version shares an aluminum parallelogram body, Ryden ShiftPath 11 linkage geometry made to tighter tolerances for eleven closely spaced sprockets, low-friction GlideWheel 11 pulleys, and a Ryden MicroIndex 11 barrel adjuster for fine indexing corrections.
The cage lengths follow the Ryden 11-Speed Cassette range: the road short cage for 11–28T Road Race, the road medium cage for 11–32T Road Endurance and 11–34T All-Road, and the MTB long cage for 11–42T MTB Wide Range. For technical off-road riding, the MTB long cage also comes in a version with the Ryden TrailLock clutch.
To choose, start with your drivetrain type and shifter (road and all-road, or MTB), then check your largest rear cog and your total capacity against that version. Confirm your shifter with us before ordering.
Ryden ShiftPath 11
ShiftPath 11 is the derailleur’s core linkage technology. Compared with ShiftPath 10, it’s made to tighter manufacturing tolerances, because eleven sprockets are packed more closely together. It includes:
- Precision parallelogram
- Reduces unwanted lateral play.
- Progressive pulley tracking
- Keeps the guide pulley in the right position as the cassette sprockets increase in diameter.
- Stiffer pivot architecture
- Improves alignment under shifting load.
- Tuned return spring
- Provides consistent shifts toward the smaller sprockets.
- Wide-range MTB geometry
- The MTB versions follow larger 34–42T sprockets more effectively.
Ryden TrailLock clutch
Ryden TrailLock is the clutch on the MTB long cage TrailLock clutch version. It increases resistance to uncontrolled cage rotation. The benefits:
- •Reduced chain slap
- •Better chain control
- •Improved chain retention
- •Quieter descending
- •Better rough-terrain behavior
TrailLock on/off switch
The clutch has an on/off switch, which makes the derailleur more convenient to service:
- On
- For riding.
- Off
- For wheel removal, chain servicing, and derailleur maintenance.
Factory-set clutch
The TrailLock clutch is set at the factory and has no user adjustment. A factory-set clutch is simpler, more consistent, and less likely to be misadjusted.
Why no clutch on the road versions?
A road derailleur generally doesn’t need the same amount of cage stabilization, because:
- •Terrain is smoother
- •Chain movement is lower
- •Weight matters more
- •Shift effort and efficiency are priorities
So the road versions stay lighter and simpler.
Ryden GlideWheel 11 pulleys
- Upper guide pulley
- 12T
- Lower tension pulley
- 14T
The 14T tension pulley is a modest step up from the 11T and 12T pulleys on the Ryden 7/8-, 9- and 10-speed rear derailleurs, while keeping a conventional derailleur footprint. GlideWheel 11 features:
- •Reinforced composite teeth
- •Low-friction bushings
- •Replaceable hardware
- •Version-specific tooth profile
Ryden MicroIndex 11
Because 11-speed cog spacing is tighter, small cable-tension errors become more noticeable. The integrated MicroIndex 11 barrel adjuster allows fine indexing corrections. It’s particularly useful after:
- •New cable installation
- •Housing settling
- •Temperature changes
- •Routine servicing
Finish
Choose Stealth Black or Titanium Grey. The derailleur carries subtle RYDEN 11 branding, and the TrailLock clutch version is marked RYDEN 11 TRAILLOCK.
