The Ryden Track Racer is a competition-focused fixed-gear bicycle engineered for velodrome racing, sprint training, and high-speed track performance. Built around an aerodynamic T800 carbon frame and full-carbon fork, it combines a dedicated fixed drivetrain, 50T x 15T race gearing, deep-section carbon wheels, 700 x 25C track tires, a narrow aerodynamic cockpit, and aggressive track geometry in a lightweight package designed specifically for closed-course riding.

A purpose-built racing machine, not an urban bike styled to look like one

The Ryden Track Racer is the most specialised bicycle in Ryden’s fixed gear and single-speed collection. Where the Urban Fix brings fixed-gear simplicity to everyday streets and the Fixie Pro combines urban performance with fixed/freewheel flexibility, the Track Racer removes those compromises. It is designed around the velodrome.

Its aerodynamic T800 carbon frame uses oversized structural sections around the bottom bracket and drivetrain for efficient power transfer during high-output acceleration and sprinting, and a full-carbon aero fork creates a narrow frontal profile. Aero features include a truncated aero down tube, a narrow head tube, a seat tube that follows the rear wheel profile and an aero carbon seatpost.

The geometry is deliberately aggressive: steep seat- and head-tube angles, short chainstays, a short wheelbase, minimal fork rake and a relatively high bottom bracket that improves pedal clearance, which matters because the pedals rotate continuously whenever the bike is moving.

There is only one drivetrain configuration: fixed gear. The rear cog is mechanically connected to the hub, so when the rear wheel rotates, the pedals rotate. There is no freewheel side. The standard setup is a 50T chainring with a 15T cog, producing a 3.33:1 ratio (roughly 90 gear inches) intended for trained riders in track environments. That is significantly harder than the urban models, which run from 2.44:1 on the Minimal up to 2.82:1 on the Fixie Pro.

Track riders routinely change gearing for different events, so chainring and cog changes are straightforward, with chainrings from 48T to 53T and cogs from 13T to 17T. No single ratio is universally correct: track gearing is highly rider- and event-specific.

IMPORTANT, BRAKES AND WHERE YOU CAN RIDE IT: the standard configuration is supplied without conventional brakes, because dedicated track bicycles are built for controlled, closed-track environments where brakes are not part of the racing setup. This makes it unsuitable as a road or commuting bicycle as supplied. Requirements for public-road use vary by jurisdiction, and riders must comply with all applicable local laws and venue rules before riding it anywhere other than a velodrome. For competition use, a professional bike fit is strongly recommended, as track position varies significantly between sprint, endurance and pursuit applications.

Q: What is the Ryden Track Racer?

A (Ryden team): The Track Racer is a dedicated fixed-gear racing bicycle designed primarily for velodrome and track cycling.

Asked by Ryden team, 0 helpful votes
Is it the same as the Ryden Fixie Pro?+

No. The Fixie Pro is an urban fixed/freewheel bicycle. The Track Racer uses a dedicated fixed drivetrain, carbon aero frame, track geometry and race-focused components.

Can I coast on it?+

No. The drivetrain is fixed, so the pedals continue rotating whenever the rear wheel rotates.

Does it have a freewheel side?+

No. Unlike the Urban Fix and Fixie Pro, the Track Racer uses a dedicated fixed track hub.

How many gears does it have?+

One gear ratio at a time.

What is the standard gearing?+

The stock setup is 50T x 15T, giving a 3.33:1 ratio, roughly 90 gear inches.

Can I change the gearing?+

Yes. Track riders commonly change chainrings and rear cogs to suit their discipline and preferred cadence. No single ratio is universally correct.

Why are the cranks 165 mm?+

Short cranks provide additional pedal clearance, which matters because fixed-gear pedals continue rotating through corners.

Does the Track Racer have brakes?+

No. The standard competition configuration is supplied without conventional brakes, as is normal for dedicated track bicycles used in controlled velodrome environments. Any use outside a closed track must comply with applicable laws and safety requirements.

Can I ride it on public roads?+

As supplied it is not designed as a road bicycle, and in many jurisdictions a brakeless bicycle is not legal on public roads. Requirements vary by location, so you must check and comply with your local rules and fit road-appropriate equipment where required.

Are the wheels carbon?+

Yes. The specification uses 60 mm deep-section carbon wheels.

Can wider tires be installed?+

Frame clearance is approximately 700 x 28C, subject to the selected rim and tire combination.

Is it suitable for beginners?+

It is aimed primarily at riders with established cycling skills. New track riders should learn track etiquette, fixed-gear technique and venue rules in an appropriate supervised environment.

Do I need a professional bike fit?+

For competition use it is strongly recommended. Track position varies significantly between sprint, endurance, pursuit and general training applications, and height alone is not enough to determine fit.

What warranty is included?+

A 5-year limited carbon frame warranty for the original owner, a 2-year limited warranty on the carbon fork and Ryden carbon wheels, and a 1-year limited warranty on other components, subject to crash, racing and misuse exclusions.
