One bike for every journey
The Ryden Pathfinder is built for cyclists who enjoy discovering new routes without worrying about the surface beneath their wheels. Whether you are riding smooth pavement, gravel roads, countryside trails, or setting off on a multi-day bikepacking trip, the Pathfinder delivers dependable performance and lasting comfort.
Its lightweight hydroformed aluminium frame combines endurance-focused geometry with responsive handling, equally comfortable on long road rides and remote gravel adventures. The full carbon fork absorbs road chatter while improving steering precision and reducing fatigue.
Equipped with the trusted Shimano GRX 600 2x11 groupset, the Pathfinder delivers reliable shifting and a broad gear range. The 2x setup (a 46/30T double crankset with an 11-34T cassette) gives closely spaced gears for efficient road riding plus the low gears you want for steep climbs and loaded touring, a gearing choice particularly suited to riders who spend real time on pavement and carry gear.
Hydraulic disc brakes provide confident stopping in all weather, while the tubeless-ready alloy wheels are paired with 700x42C gravel tyres for traction across loose gravel, dirt roads, forest paths, and asphalt, and you can fit tyres up to 50mm for rougher terrain. A flared gravel handlebar widens at the drops for control and stability.
Integrated mounting points throughout the frame and fork, including rack and fender mounts, take bikepacking bags, cargo cages, mudguards, and rear racks, making the Pathfinder equally capable for commuting, weekend adventures, or long-distance touring.
Where it fits in the Ryden range: the Pathfinder is our most accessible gravel bike and our touring-and-commuting-focused option. It is one of three alloy gravel bikes: alongside the Adventure and the heavy-touring Expedition, it gives you genuine gravel capability without the premium price of a carbon bike. The two differ in a way worth understanding: the Pathfinder uses a 2x drivetrain (two chainrings, closer gear spacing, great for road-heavy riding and loaded touring) with an 11-speed GRX 600 groupset and an alloy seatpost, at the lowest price in our gravel range; the Adventure steps up to newer 12-speed components and a carbon seatpost but uses a 1x drivetrain (single chainring, simpler). Choose the Pathfinder if you want the most affordable gravel bike and prefer a 2x setup for touring and road riding; choose the Adventure if you want newer 12-speed components and a carbon seatpost and prefer a simpler 1x drivetrain. Above both sit our carbon gravel bikes (the 1x Gravel Pro, the 2x Explorer, and the electronic-shifting Terra). For pure-pavement speed see our road bikes, for technical trails our mountain bikes, and for upright city and fitness riding our hybrid and city bikes.

Questions about this product (11)
A (Ryden team): The Pathfinder is ideal for commuters, adventure cyclists, weekend explorers, bikepackers, and recreational riders who want one bike for road and gravel. It is our most accessible gravel bike, with a touring-friendly 2x drivetrain.
How is it different from the Ryden Adventure?+
Both are alloy gravel bikes, and the difference is worth understanding. The Pathfinder is more affordable ($1,499 vs $1,799) and uses a 2x drivetrain (two chainrings, closer gear spacing, well suited to road riding and loaded touring) with an 11-speed GRX 600 groupset and an alloy seatpost. The Adventure steps up to newer 12-speed components (GRX 610) and a carbon seatpost, but uses a 1x drivetrain (single chainring, simpler). So it is partly a gearing choice: choose the Pathfinder for the most affordable option and a 2x setup for touring; choose the Adventure for newer 12-speed components and a carbon post with a simpler 1x drivetrain. Both share the same alloy frame family, carbon fork, GRX brakes, and bikepacking mounts.
Is it suitable for daily commuting?+
Yes, it is one of our most commuter-friendly bikes. Its comfortable geometry, reliable drivetrain, and mounts for racks and mudguards make it an excellent everyday commuter.
Can I use it for bikepacking?+
Absolutely. The frame and fork have multiple cargo mounting points for racks, bags, bottle cages, and other bikepacking accessories. For heavily loaded trips, consider total system weight (rider plus cargo) alongside the 130 kg rider limit.
Can it handle rough gravel roads?+
Yes. The 700x42C tubeless-ready tyres provide grip and comfort on gravel roads, forest tracks, hard-packed dirt, and uneven pavement. For rougher terrain you can fit tyres up to 50mm.
Can I upgrade to wider tyres?+
Yes. The frame accommodates tyres up to 700x50C, so you can tailor the bike for more demanding terrain or extra comfort. It ships with 700x42C tyres.
Is it suitable for long-distance touring?+
Yes, it is one of our best touring choices. Its endurance geometry, wide 2x gear range, and multiple cargo mounts (including rack and fender mounts) make it excellent for long-distance cycling and multi-day adventures.
How is it different from a mountain bike?+
A mountain bike is built for technical off-road trails, with flat bars and often suspension. The Pathfinder is a drop-bar gravel bike for covering distance efficiently across gravel roads, forest tracks, and hard-packed dirt at closer to road-bike speed, not for technical singletrack or downhill. For technical off-road, see our mountain bikes.
How much assembly is required?+
The bike arrives approximately 90% assembled. Final installation of the handlebars, front wheel, pedals, and seatpost is required, typically 30 to 60 minutes for someone comfortable with basic bike mechanics. Tools and instructions are included.
What warranty is included?+
Lifetime warranty on the aluminium frame, 5-year warranty on the carbon fork, 2-year warranty on Shimano components, and 2-year warranty on the wheelset. Full terms in our Warranty Policy.
Why should I choose the Ryden Pathfinder?+
It is the ideal choice for a dependable, adventure-ready gravel bike at an accessible price. Its aluminium frame, carbon fork, Shimano GRX 600 2x11 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, tubeless-ready wheels, and bikepacking-friendly design make it equally capable of commuting, endurance riding, touring, and gravel exploration: premium versatility and excellent value, one of the most practical bikes in our gravel range.
