The ultimate gravity machine

The Ryden Downhill Pro represents the ultimate gravity machine within the Ryden mountain bike collection. Every aspect of the bike has been engineered for one purpose: descending faster, smoother, and with greater confidence than ever before.

Its advanced Toray T1000 carbon frame features a reinforced full-suspension platform delivering 200mm of rear wheel travel. Up front, a FOX 40 Factory dual-crown fork provides 200mm of travel, letting you absorb massive impacts while maintaining precise steering through technical terrain. The dual-crown design, with two clamps above and below the headtube, delivers the stiffness and steering precision that high-speed downhill demands.

The downhill-specific Shimano Saint drivetrain is optimized for reliability and chain retention rather than climbing range, while powerful Shimano Saint four-piston brakes with oversized 220mm rotors deliver exceptional braking on long, steep descents.

A mixed-wheel (mullet) configuration pairs a 29-inch front wheel with a 27.5-inch rear, combining excellent rollover up front with improved manoeuvrability and clearance at the rear through tight corners and jumps. The aggressive geometry, low bottom bracket, and extra-long wheelbase provide incredible stability at race speeds.

Important, this is a dedicated downhill bike: the Downhill Pro is built almost exclusively for descending. It is not designed to be pedalled uphill for any meaningful distance, downhill bikes are transported to the top by ski lifts, shuttle vehicles, or uplift services. Its long-travel suspension, downhill gearing, and fixed (non-dropper) seatpost all reflect this single purpose. If you want a bike you can pedal up as well as descend, our Enduro X (170/165mm, climbable) or All Mountain (150/145mm, versatile) are the right choices. The Downhill Pro is for lift-served bike parks, shuttle runs, and downhill race tracks, where it is unmatched in the Ryden range.

What makes a downhill bike different from an enduro bike?+

A downhill bike has longer suspension travel (200mm vs the Enduro X's 170/165mm), a dual-crown fork (vs single-crown), downhill-specific gearing (a 1x7 with no climbing range), heavier-duty construction, and geometry optimized almost entirely for descending. An enduro bike like our Enduro X can still be pedalled uphill between descents; the Downhill Pro is built to be taken up by lift or shuttle and ridden down. Choose the Downhill Pro for dedicated downhill racing and bike parks; choose the Enduro X if you need to climb as well as descend.

Can I pedal the Ryden Downhill Pro uphill?+

Only short distances, it is not designed for sustained climbing. Downhill bikes are used with ski lifts, shuttle vehicles, or uplift services, because their long-travel suspension, downhill gearing, and geometry all prioritize descending. If you want a bike you can pedal up as well as ride down, our Enduro X or All Mountain are the right choices.

Why does it use a dual-crown fork?+

Dual-crown forks (with clamps above and below the headtube) provide exceptional stiffness, steering precision, and durability at high speed over large jumps, rock gardens, and rough terrain. It is the standard for downhill racing and a key reason the bike feels so composed at speed.

Why does it have a 1x7 drivetrain?+

A downhill-specific 1x7 drivetrain offers stronger chain retention, simplified shifting, and closely spaced gears for high-speed descending, where climbing gears simply aren't needed. Fewer, tougher, closely-spaced gears are exactly what a gravity bike wants.

Why does it use mixed (mullet) wheels?+

The 29-inch front wheel rolls more smoothly over obstacles, while the 27.5-inch rear wheel improves agility, cornering, and clearance on steep descents. This mullet setup is widely used on modern World Cup downhill bikes, and the Downhill Pro runs it on every size.

Is it suitable for bike parks?+

Yes, it is specifically engineered for lift-served bike parks, downhill race tracks, jump lines, and technical mountain descents. This is exactly what the Downhill Pro is built for.

Does it have a dropper post?+

No, and that is intentional. The Downhill Pro uses a fixed seatpost because downhill riders set the saddle low and leave it there; you are descending, not climbing, so there is no need to raise the saddle. A fixed post is lighter and simpler, which suits the bike's single purpose. (Our trail, all-mountain, and enduro bikes include or support droppers, because those bikes climb as well as descend.)

How much assembly is required?+

The bike arrives approximately 90% assembled. Final installation of the handlebars, front wheel, and pedals, plus suspension setup (setting fork and shock for your weight), is required. Given the bike's performance, we recommend having suspension setup checked by a shop if you are not experienced with coil shocks and dual-crown forks.

What warranty is included?+

Lifetime warranty on the carbon frame, 5-year warranty on the suspension linkage, 2-year warranty on suspension components (fork and rear shock), and 2-year warranty on drivetrain and brakes. The fork and shock need periodic servicing to keep their warranty valid, and crash/impact damage from racing and jumps is not covered. Full terms in our Warranty Policy.

Why should I choose the Ryden Downhill Pro?+

The Downhill Pro is the ultimate gravity-focused bike in the Ryden collection. Its carbon frame, 200mm of suspension travel, FOX Factory suspension, Shimano Saint components, four-piston brakes, and World Cup-inspired geometry are engineered for riders who demand uncompromising speed, stability, and confidence on the steepest, most technical downhill trails.
