Ryden E-Bike Crankset – Reinforced Mid-Drive Electric Bicycle Crankset
The Ryden E-Bike Crankset is a reinforced crank system engineered for compatible mid-drive electric bicycles, where both rider input and motor assistance place substantial loads on the drivetrain. It combines high-strength forged aluminum crank arms, reinforced pedal and spindle interfaces, motor-specific mounting versions, multiple crank lengths, and an optional Ryden E-Bike Chainring with hardened steel teeth. Designed for e-MTB, e-touring, e-commuter, e-cargo, trekking, and utility applications, it prioritizes durability, compatibility, and dependable power transfer rather than minimum weight.
Each version fits selected motor models and generations, not every motor from a brand. Confirm your motor model and generation with us before ordering.
E-Cargo Heavy-Duty comes in 165 or 170 mm. Shorter cranks add pedal clearance on e-MTBs.
Ryden E-Bike Chainring with hardened steel teeth. 38T suits most e-bikes; 32–36T suits e-MTB.
12-speed: selected drivetrains only. Confirm yours with us before ordering.

Motor compatibility, high-load durability, correct chainline, serviceability
Crank arms, pedal inserts, and spindle-interface areas are strengthened for the repeated loads associated with motor-assisted riding.
Separate versions for selected Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha, and Brose mid-drive systems, instead of questionable universal adapters.
High-strength aluminum provides excellent stiffness and durability without the excessive weight of steel crank arms.
The complete crankset adds the Ryden E-Bike Chainring and pairs with the Ryden E-Bike Reinforced Chain.
Multiple lengths let fit, pedal clearance, rider biomechanics, and e-MTB requirements be considered, rather than forcing every e-bike onto 170 or 175 mm cranks.
An electric bicycle crankset has a different job from a conventional road or mountain-bike crankset. On a normal bicycle, the crankset connects the rider directly to the chainring and drivetrain. On many modern mid-drive e-bikes, the motor unit sits between those systems: the crank arms attach directly to the motor’s spindle, while the chainring may attach to a separate motor-driven output interface.
That’s why the Ryden E-Bike Crankset doesn’t use the integrated 24 mm spindle of Ryden’s conventional cranksets. It uses motor-specific crank interfaces instead, so it can serve a broader and more technically correct range of electric bicycles.
The crank arms are forged from high-strength aluminum and reinforced around the areas most likely to see repeated load: the motor spindle interface, pedal eye, crank-arm midsection, and arm-end impact zone.
The complete crankset combines the arms with the Ryden E-Bike Chainring, with hardened steel teeth and an aluminum carrier, for a system designed around motor compatibility, high-load durability, correct chainline, and serviceability.

How an e-bike crankset differs
- Conventional Ryden crankset
- Right crank, integrated 24 mm spindle, left crank. The chainring attaches to the crank or spider.
- Ryden E-Bike Crankset
- The left and right cranks attach to the motor spindle, while the chainring may connect separately to the motor output. The motor effectively becomes part of the drivetrain structure, which is why one universal e-bike crankset isn’t realistic.
Ryden E-Force Crank
The crankset extends the E-Force family of the Ryden E-Bike Reinforced Chain:
- Reinforced pedal eye
- Additional material around the pedal thread helps handle repeated starts and high rider load.
- High-strength spindle interface
- Motor-specific splines or attachment surfaces are designed to reduce movement under torque.
- Forged arm construction
- Forging aligns the material structure more effectively than simple casting for a high-load crank component.
- Impact-reinforced arm ends
- Useful for e-MTB applications, where crank arms may strike trail obstacles.
- Controlled flex profile
- The arms stay stiff under normal pedaling without becoming excessively heavy.
E-Cargo Heavy-Duty
A premium configuration for cargo use, so the standard crankset doesn’t have to be unnecessarily heavy for every rider:
- •Reinforced forged arms
- •Hardened steel pedal inserts
- •Increased wall thickness
- •Steel-tooth E-Bike Chainring
- •Heavy-duty fasteners
- •165 or 170 mm crank lengths
Questions about this product (15)
A (Ryden team): It is primarily designed for compatible mid-drive electric bicycles.
Does it include a chainring?+
The $119.99 arm set is crank arms only. The complete crankset ($169.99) adds a Ryden E-Bike Chainring and mounting hardware, and the E-Cargo Heavy-Duty version includes a steel-tooth E-Bike Chainring.
What is the standard crank length?+
170 mm.
What other lengths are available?+
160, 165, and 175 mm. The E-Cargo Heavy-Duty version comes in 165 or 170 mm.
Which length is best for e-MTB?+
165 mm is a strong choice for many technical e-MTBs because of the additional pedal clearance, although rider fit and motor/frame geometry should determine the final choice.
What is the standard chainring size?+
The complete general-purpose crankset uses 38T.
What chainring sizes are available?+
32T through 46T.
Does it use a 24 mm spindle?+
No. Unlike Ryden’s conventional cranksets, it attaches to the motor’s crank spindle and interface.
Will it fit every Bosch motor?+
No. Compatibility depends on the exact motor generation and interface, so confirm yours with us before ordering.
Is there a Shimano-compatible version?+
Yes, for selected Shimano STEPS and EP-series systems. Confirm your motor model and generation with us before ordering.
Is it suitable for e-cargo?+
Yes. The standard versions suit many applications, and the E-Cargo Heavy-Duty version is preferable for heavy commercial or cargo use.
Which chain should I use?+
A speed-specific Ryden E-Bike Reinforced Chain is recommended where compatible.
Does it work with 12-speed drivetrains?+
The crank arms may, but the chainring and drivetrain combination suits selected 12-speed systems only, so confirm yours with us before ordering.
Are pedals included?+
No.
Can I use it on a hub-motor e-bike?+
Possibly, if physically compatible, but it is designed primarily for mid-drive systems.
