Ryden Road Integrated Shifters – Mechanical Dual-Control Brake & Shift Levers
The Ryden Road Integrated Shifters combine braking and gear control in one compact drop-bar lever system for compatible mechanical road drivetrains. Using Ryden DualControl Road indexing for precise front and rear shifting, independent brake and shift movements, Ryden ReachFit lever reach adjustment, and internal under-tape cable routing, they let you brake and shift without taking your hands off the hoods. The standard 2×11 pair is optimized for road drivetrains using the Ryden Road Double Front Derailleur, the road versions of the Ryden 11-Speed Rear Derailleur, the Ryden 11-Speed Chain, and the Ryden 11-Speed Cassette in 11–28T, 11–32T or 11–34T, with 2×10, 2×11 mechanical disc brake, and 1×11 pairs also available.
For 11-speed road drivetrains and cable brakes designed for road lever pull, not long-pull V-brakes.

Precise mechanical shifting, confident braking, long-distance hand comfort
One lever body handles both braking and gear changes, keeping your hands securely on the hoods.
Speed-specific internal ratchets provide precise rear indexing and controlled front-derailleur movement.
The Ryden ErgoHood body is designed for long road rides, endurance riding, sprinting, climbing, and multiple hand positions.
Ryden ReachFit moves the main brake lever closer to the bar, by approximately 8–12 mm, for riders with smaller hands or winter gloves.
Shift cables exit cleanly beneath the handlebar tape for a tidier, more aerodynamic cockpit with no exposed cable loop.
Road integrated shifters are much more complex than flat-bar trigger or thumb shifters, because they combine several functions in a single control. From one lever on each side, you need to brake, shift the rear derailleur, shift the front derailleur, stay in control from the hoods, and operate everything while sprinting or climbing.
The Ryden Road Integrated Shifters use separate mechanical movements within the same lever body. The main brake lever pivots toward the handlebar to operate the brake, while separate shift-paddle movements control the derailleur cables.
The right-hand lever controls the rear derailleur and the rear brake. On a 2× drivetrain, the left-hand lever controls the front derailleur and the front brake. That lets you shift without moving your hands to a separate shifter.
For a matched 2×11 drivetrain, use the standard 2×11 pair with the 11-speed versions of the Ryden Road Double Front Derailleur and Ryden Road Double Crankset, the road versions of the Ryden 11-Speed Rear Derailleur, the Ryden 11-Speed Cassette in 11–28T, 11–32T or 11–34T, and the Ryden 11-Speed Chain.
Every version is built around the same goal: precise mechanical shifting, confident braking, and hand comfort over long distances.
Ryden DualControl Road
DualControl Road is the lever system at the core of the shifters. Separate mechanical movements inside one lever body handle braking and shifting. It combines:
- Main brake lever
- Pivots toward the handlebar and pulls the brake cable.
- Rear shift paddle
- On the right lever, controls rear derailleur cable tension.
- Front shift function
- On the left lever of the 2× pairs, moves the chain between the two chainrings.
- Independent pivot paths
- Keep the braking movement separate, so braking doesn’t cause an unintended gear shift.
- Positive indexing
- Mechanical detents define each gear position.
Right lever: rear shifting
The right-hand lever controls the rear derailleur and the rear brake. The 11-speed pairs have 11 indexed rear positions, matched to the cable actuation of the road versions of the Ryden 11-Speed Rear Derailleur; the 2×10 pair has 10.
One control movement shifts toward larger rear sprockets (easier gears), and the opposite movement shifts toward smaller rear sprockets (harder gears). The shift direction is the same on every version. See Setups & pairings for multi-shift.
Left lever: front shifting
On the 2×10 and 2×11 pairs, the left-hand lever controls a compatible 2× road front derailleur and the front brake. It has a small-ring position, a large-ring position, and trim.
Trim makes a small front-derailleur movement without completing a full chainring shift. That reduces cage rub as the rear derailleur moves the chain across the cassette, and it works with a front derailleur designed for trim positions, such as the Ryden Road Double Front Derailleur.
1×11 pair: brake-only left lever
On the 1×11 pair, the right lever stays fully indexed and the left lever controls the front brake only. The left lever still has:
- •The brake lever function
- •Matching hood ergonomics
- •A matching lever shape
Only the internal front-shift ratchet is removed, which reduces weight and internal complexity while keeping the cockpit symmetrical.
Ryden ErgoHood
The hood is one of the most important parts of a road shifter. Ryden ErgoHood is shaped for long rides, climbing, rough roads, and riders with different hand sizes:
- Flat upper platform
- Supports the palm.
- Slight inward hook
- Helps keep your hand secure on the hood.
- Rounded transition
- Avoids pressure points.
- Textured rubber hood
- Provides grip in rain and sweat.
The shape also gives a neutral wrist angle and broad palm support, and the body tapers at the front and transitions smoothly under the bar tape.
Ryden ReachFit
ReachFit gives approximately 8–12 mm of effective lever-position adjustment, moving the main brake lever closer to the handlebar. It’s especially useful for:
- •Smaller hands
- •Riders using compact drop bars
- •Riders wearing winter gloves
Reach adjustment affects braking from both the hoods and the drops, without compromising full brake cable pull.
Braking from the hoods and the drops
Road riders brake from the hoods often, not only from the drops. The lever shape gives braking leverage from the hood position, and the lever blade stays easy to reach from the drops.
The lower section of the brake lever has a subtle textured finish for grip. The texture is deliberately mild, because aggressive texturing can wear gloves.
Construction
- Main brake lever
- Forged aluminum rather than composite, for high strength, predictable stiffness, and impact durability.
- Lever body
- Reinforced composite, which saves weight.
- Internal ratchet
- Hardened steel, including the primary load-bearing ratchet surfaces, so the mechanism stands up to thousands of shifts, sweat, contamination, and repeated cable tension.
- Brake lever pivot
- A hardened steel pivot with a low-friction bushing. The return spring brings the lever back positively after braking.
- Clamp
- An internal aluminum band clamp for the drop-bar control area.
A 2×11 pair weighs approximately 470–520 g. The levers put durability and reliability ahead of the lowest possible weight.
Under-tape cable routing
On every version, the shift cables exit beneath the hood and run under the handlebar tape. That gives you:
- •A cleaner cockpit
- •Better aerodynamics
- •A tidier appearance
- •No exposed cable loop
Mechanical brake housing also routes cleanly from the lever body under the tape where appropriate.
Cable service access
A small service port under the hood lets a mechanic replace the shift cable without completely disassembling the lever, so the integrated design doesn’t make cable changes unnecessarily difficult.
Ryden ControlSeal Road
Road controls face sweat, rain, dust, drink spills, and road spray. ControlSeal Road protects the levers with:
- •Sealed cable ports
- •Corrosion-resistant springs
- •A protected ratchet
- •Drainage channels
ControlSeal Road makes the levers weather resistant, not waterproof. Keep cleaning the lever pivots as described under Installation & care.
Included cables
Each pair includes polished stainless inner shift cables, one for each shifting lever: two with the 2×10 and 2×11 pairs, and one with the 1×11 pair. Brake cables, brake housing, and shift housing aren’t included, so use good compression-resistant shift housing and quality brake cable and housing.
Finish
Stealth Black.
