Our folding range

What we supply.

Three models that cover the three reasons customers buy folding bikes: a commuter fold for the train-and-bike rider, a compact fold for the smallest-storage-space customer, and a travel fold for the customer who packs the bike in a case for flights. Each is built around a different fold compromise; we explain the compromises rather than pretending one fold fits everyone.

Commuter fold

Aluminium frame · 20" wheels · Hydraulic disc · 6 or 7-speed derailleur · Rear rack mount · Integrated mudguards

Fast-fold for the train-and-bike commuter. Fold time under 15 seconds with practice. Larger folded footprint than the compact because the trade-off is fold speed.

Compact fold

Aluminium frame · 16" or 20" wheels · Hydraulic disc (higher trim) or V-brake (entry) · 3 or 6-speed internal hub on higher trim

Smallest folded footprint in our range. Slower fold than the commuter because the trade-off is folded size. Apartment and under-desk storage.

Travel fold

Aluminium frame · 20" wheels · V-brakes · Single-speed or 3-speed internal hub · Frame separable at head tube on higher trim

Designed to pack into airline-allowable case dimensions. V-brakes deliberately because hydraulic lines are vulnerable to packing-unpacking handling cycles.

Why wholesale folding bikes through us

A supplier that engineered the fold, not bolted it on.

Folding mechanism tested to category standard

EN 14764 includes test requirements specifically for folding mechanisms: frame fatigue at the hinge, latch retention under load, fold-cycle endurance. Every folding model meets the standard with test reports on file.

Wholesale pricing that protects your margin

Direct-from-manufacturer wholesale pricing without an extra import layer compressing your margin. Tier pricing improves as your volume grows.

Bearings rated for fold-cycle life

The hinges, latches, and folding joints carry sealed bearings rated for [10,000] fold cycles minimum. A commuter folding the bike twice daily reaches that count in [14] years. The mechanism is engineered to outlast the bike's other components, not the other way around.

Private label and travel-industry-friendly

Private-label runs available from 75 units per model. Travel retail, hotel fleet, and corporate hybrid-work program orders welcome at higher volumes with consistent paint and spec.

Build your shop’s own folding line

Your name on the bike that lives in customers’ apartments.

Folding bikes are uniquely visible as branded objects because they’re carried, stored in shared spaces, and used in public transit where other people see them. Your shop’s name on the down tube becomes brand exposure every time a customer carries the bike onto a train. We extend the same folding-mechanism engineering and EN 14764 certification to your branded SKUs. Private-label folding bikes start at 75 units per model, with 3 weeks to first sample and 2–3 months from sample approval.

Specifications and standards

Folding bike specifications and standards.

EN 14764 covers city and trekking bicycles in the EU and includes test requirements specifically for folding mechanisms: frame fatigue at the folding joint, latch retention under static and dynamic load, and fold-cycle endurance over thousands of repetitions. The standard exists because the folding joint is the point where folding bikes structurally differ from rigid bikes, and it’s the point that needs documented testing before the bike can be sold as a folding bike rather than a bike that happens to have a hinge. CPSC 16 CFR Part 1512 in the US applies to folding bikes alongside other categories.

Folding mechanism

All three models in our range use a center-fold mechanism with a single primary frame latch, a secondary stem-fold mechanism, and a folding pedal on the non-drive side (drive-side pedal is fixed because folding both pedals adds failure points without commensurate fold-size benefit). The primary latch on every model uses a cam-over design with a safety secondary catch; both must be released for the frame to fold, which prevents accidental unfolding during use. The fold sequence is documented per model with a folding guide supplied to your shop for customer reference.

Bearings

Sealed cartridge bearings at the folding joints, headset, and bottom bracket on every trim. The folding joint bearings are the highest-load and highest-cycle components on the bike; specifying sealed cartridge at this position is a non-negotiable engineering decision, not a trim-level option.

Wheel sizes

16" or 20"depending on model. 20" is the volume standard because it balances ride quality (closer to a regular bike) with folded size; 16" appears on the compact model where folded size is the priority constraint. We don’t supply 14" or smaller folding bikes; ride quality degrades below 16" to the point where the category becomes a novelty rather than a usable bike.

Brakes

Hydraulic disc brakes on the commuter and higher-trim compact models, V-brakes on the entry compact and travel models. V-brakes appear on the travel model deliberately because they survive the packing-and-unpacking handling cycles travel models see, which can damage hydraulic lines.

Gearing

External derailleur on the commuter model (lower cost, broader gear range, standard service knowledge in any bike shop). Internal hub gearingon the higher-trim compact and travel models (cleaner fold envelope because no exposed derailleur, lower service intervention, slightly heavier). Each choice is made for the model’s use case rather than spec-sheet maximisation.

Folded dimensions

Confirmed per model in your quote. Folded dimensions affect what the bike fits into (train luggage racks, car boots, airline cases, apartment storage corners), and the specifications are precise rather than approximate.

What you won’t find in our folding range at launch

Electric folding bikes (e-bike regulatory load remains outside our launch scope per the e-bike page discussion), 14" or smaller folders (ride quality compromise too severe for serious use), or magnesium-frame folders (a luxury sub-category outside launch volume).

Operational realities named up front

Folding bikes ship folded.

01

Freight is folded-configuration shipping, lowest per-unit of any adult bike

Folding bikes ship in their folded configuration, which means dramatically smaller box dimensions than any other adult bike category. A pallet of folding bikes carries significantly more units than a pallet of conventional bikes, which means per-unit freight is the lowest of any adult bike category we wholesale. International freight from the origin port is quoted per shipment alongside your initial quote.

02

Packing protects the latch surfaces, the highest-risk damage points

Boxes ship with the bike fully folded and secured in the folded position, with frame and joint protection at the latch surfaces (the highest-risk damage points because they're the smallest contact surfaces under transit load). We document every shipment with photographs before dispatch including the latched fold-position state.

03

Assembly is short, but latch-engagement verification is the liability-relevant step

Folding bikes arrive folded, with pedals attached (folding pedal in folded position, fixed pedal in its working position). Your mechanic unfolds the bike, verifies the latch engagement on the primary frame fold and the secondary stem fold, checks the brake function, and runs the shifting check. The most important step is the latch-engagement verification per the manufacturer's procedure, because a customer who learns to fold and unfold the bike themselves will rely on the latch holding under load. We supply the verification procedure per model and the torque spec for the latch hardware.

Common folding bike wholesale questions

What buyers actually ask.

What's the fold time on each model?

Commuter fold: under 15 seconds with practice. Compact fold: 25 to 40 seconds depending on trim. Travel fold: 60 to 90 seconds depending on whether the head-tube separation is engaged. Confirmed per model in your quote.

What are the folded dimensions of each model?

Confirmed per model in your quote because the precise dimensions matter for what the bike fits into. Approximate ranges: commuter folds to roughly [85 × 65 × 40 cm]; compact folds smaller (down to roughly [60 × 65 × 30 cm] depending on trim); travel folds smaller still with optional head-tube separation engaged.

What's the bearing life on the folding mechanism?

[10,000] fold cycles minimum on the sealed cartridge bearings at the folding joints. A commuter folding twice daily reaches that count in [14] years.

Do you supply electric folding bikes?

Not at launch. Electric folding bikes carry the e-bike regulatory load discussed on the e-bike page; outside scope until that category is broader.

What's the brake configuration on each model?

Hydraulic disc on the commuter and higher-trim compact. V-brakes on the entry compact and the travel model. V-brakes on the travel model are a deliberate choice because hydraulic lines are vulnerable to damage during packing and unpacking cycles.

Do you offer hotel guest rental, corporate program, or travel retail quotes?

Yes. Higher-volume orders for non-traditional retail use cases get consistent paint and spec across the order, and we structure warranty terms to reflect the higher use cycles of fleet and rental applications. Tell us the use case in the quote.

What's the warranty on folding bikes?

Frame: 3 years against manufacturing defects. Folding mechanism: [2 years on the hinges, latches, and bearings, covering manufacturing defects and premature wear within fold-cycle ratings]. Components: warranty per manufacturer terms, typically 2 years on groupset and brakes. The folding mechanism carries its own warranty period because it's the most-stressed component.

How are folding bikes packed for transit?

In folded configuration with frame and latch protection. Pallet density runs higher than conventional adult bikes; per-unit freight is correspondingly lower. Every shipment documented with photographs before dispatch.

Do you supply assembly instructions and the folding procedure documentation?

Yes. Assembly notes per model, the folding and unfolding procedure with latch verification steps, and a torque chart for the folding mechanism hardware. The folding procedure is also supplied to your shop for customer reference at point of sale.

What spare parts do you supply for folding mechanisms?

Fast-moving folding-bike-specific items (latch hardware, hinge bearings, folding pedal replacement) are stocked separately and quoted alongside your bike order. These are category-specific items general bike parts catalogues don't carry.

Can a folding bike be sold to airline travellers without special packaging from your end?

The travel model fits within most major airlines' allowable bicycle case dimensions when fully folded with the head-tube separation engaged, but airline policies vary and the customer is responsible for verifying their specific airline's requirements. We don't ship with airline travel cases; those are a separate retail accessory.
